Advertising disclosure

About the game
Is RAID: Shadow Legends free?
The download is free and a large amount of content is reachable without paying. It also sells shards, packs, Gems, Energy refills and recurring offers, and it is monetised heavily. Both halves of that are true and you should read both before installing.
Is it on PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch?
No. As of September 2026 there is no console release. It runs on iOS, iPadOS and Android, and on Windows and macOS through Plarium Play, Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store. An earlier version of our own guide said otherwise; that was wrong and is listed in our corrections table.
Can I play on my phone and my PC with the same account?
Yes. Signing in to the same Plarium account carries progress between mobile and desktop.
Who makes it, and who owns it now?
It is developed and published by Plarium Games. Aristocrat Leisure acquired Plarium in August 2017; Aristocrat then agreed in November 2024 to sell Plarium to Modern Times Group (MTG), and that sale completed in February 2025. MTG is the current owner.
How many champions are there?
A great many, and the number grows continuously — community databases listed more than a thousand during 2026, across 16 factions. We deliberately do not print an exact figure, because any figure we print here is wrong within weeks. The in-game collection screen is the authority.
Is it pay-to-win?
Critical coverage has described it in those terms, bluntly. Our own narrower assessment: nearly all content can be cleared without paying, given time, but the claim that a free account competes on equal terms at the top of the Arena ladder against paying players is not credible. Money mainly buys speed and additional random draws.
Does buying shards guarantee a particular champion?
No. Summoning is a random draw. More purchases buy more draws, not a chosen outcome. The game publishes its summon chances in the client — read them there, before buying.
What age is it rated for?
PEGI 12 in Europe, for violence and in-game purchases, with the descriptor "In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items)". That descriptor is the formal signal that paid items have randomised contents. See our spending and safety page.
My child spent money in the game. What do I do?
Start with the store the purchase went through — Apple, Google, Steam, Epic or Microsoft — using its refund or "report a problem" process, and say explicitly that the purchase was made by a child without permission. Then set up purchase authentication and family controls so it cannot recur. We cannot process refunds; we sell nothing and take no payments.
How big is the download?
Multiple gigabytes, and growing with each content release. We do not quote a figure because it differs by platform and changes constantly; the store listing you install from shows the current size.
Do I need to spend to enjoy it?
No. Plenty of people play for years without paying. Whether you enjoy it depends far more on whether you like optimisation and long time horizons than on your budget.
Does this site set cookies or track me?
No. No cookies, no analytics, no advertising pixels, no localStorage or sessionStorage, and no third-party requests at all. Our cookie policy explains how to verify that yourself in your browser's developer tools in about thirty seconds.
